Title:
Actions of Cremona groups on CAT(0) cube complexes

Speaker:
Christian Urech

Abstract:
Recently, in geometric group theory, isometric actions of groups on CAT(0) cube complexes have turned out to be powerful tools to study a broad range of groups. In this talk, I will explain the construction of CAT(0) cube complexes on which groups of birational transformations act by isometries and explain how to use these actions to deduce new and old group theoretical and dynamical results about Cremona groups. This is joint work with Anne Lonjou.
