Title:
Hidden scale invariance in turbulence

Speaker:
Alexei Mailybaev

Abstract:
We show how the time-scaling symmetry can be factored out in scale-invariant dynamics. This procedure reveals new (hidden) scaling symmetries, which can be restored despite original symmetries being broken. We demonstrate how the hidden symmetry leads to the power-law scaling of structure functions with explicitly computed anomalous exponents in a turbulence toy model. Finally, we discuss its application to equations of fluid dynamics.
