Canonical Purification of Evaporating Black Holes

Abstract:
I’ll construct the canonical purification of evaporating AdS black holes. For old black holes, the resulting geometry contains a short spatial wormhole, and provides a general realization of ER=EPR. For young black holes, by contrast, the canonical purification provides a puzzling counterexample to conjectures relating entanglement to spacetime connectivity.
