Progress in Gapless Topological Phases

Abstract:
I will give an overview of the problem of defining topological phases in gapless systems. We are especially interested in CFTs with symmetry-protected edge modes and whether bulk invariants can detect them. I will describe some examples such as in the Kondo problem (a non-example, in fact), SPT phases tuned to a symmetry breaking critical point, critical points with emergent anomalies, and transitions between SPTs.
