Deformations of Quantum Field Theories

Abstract:
I shall discuss the definition of local fields in quantum field theory, and their relation to deformations of the theory and to the construction and geometry of moduli spaces of theories. I shall recall Zamolodchikov’s c-theorem concerning the trajectories of the renormalization group flow for 2-dimensional theories, and the recent proof by Komargodski and Schwimmer of Cardy’s conjectured generalization to 4-dimensional theories.
