Lagrangian Cobordisms and the Fukaya Category

Abstract:
I will discuss joint work with David Nadler in which we study a category of Lagrangians inside an exact symplectic manifold, with morphisms given by certain cobordisms between them. I'll discuss the conjectural equivalence of this category to the Fukaya category, and give evidence of it. As time allows I'll discuss the stability (e.g., triangulated structure) of the category, and the relation of our category to a similar category defined by Paul Biran and Octav Cornea.
