Chern-Weil Forms and Abstract Homotopy Theory

Abstract:
We begin by asking some innocent sounding questions in differential geometry. We give a modern formulation which leads us to abstract homotopy theory and a new take on equivariant de Rham theory. There is also a relation with the concept of “field” in physics. This is joint work with Mike Hopkins.
