Higher dimensional contact manifolds

Abstract:
We discuss the existence problem of contact structures on closed manifolds with odd dimension. In particular, using surgery theoretic methods we show that if M is contact, then so is MxS^2. This is joint work with Jonathan Bowden and Diarmuid Crowley.
