Abstract:
I will explain how the Chas-Sullivan loop product on the homology of the free loop space of a symplectic manifold can be deformed using holomorphic spheres. This deformation generalizes the quantum intersection product on the homology of the manifold, viewed as the space of constant loops. It provides the first step towards a theory of quantum string topology.
