Abstract:
This minicourse will explore the existence and uniqueness of Einstein metrics on 4-manifolds, while emphasizing an interplay between curvature functionals and differential-topological invariants that is peculiar to four dimensions. In the process, we will see that conformally Kähler metrics play a central role in 4-dimensional geometry, giving us insight into many canonical metric problems.
