Abstract:
Perturbative scattering amplitudes are essential to the calculation of cross sections and related observables. I'll review general considerations on the structure of amplitudes that cut across theories, sketching how a space-time interpretation is intrinsic to both momentum and coordinate space calculations at fixed orders and beyond, and leads to concepts like jets, infrared safety and factorization.
