Title:
Mini-lectures on the Gross-Siebert program II: Toric degenerations, affine manifolds

Speaker:
Helge Ruddat

Abstract:
The toric degeneration is at the heart of the Gross-Siebert program, providing the link between algebraic and affine geometry. I will give its definition, some examples, and show how such a degeneration leads to two affine structures that are related by a discrete Legendre transform, the combinatiral duality underlying mirror symmetry.
