Title:
Raney distribution and random matrices

Speaker:
Peter Forrester

Abstract:
The Raney numbers are a generalisation of the Fuss-Catalan numbers, which occur in ballot type problems. Recently they have been shown to occur in random matrix theory as the moments of eigenvalue probability densities. I'll develop some themes that come out of this interpretation.
