Abstract:
The aim of the talks is to explore the notion of "good families" of algebraic varieties. Lecture 1 will give many examples of families, some good, some bad. These will guide the development of the general theory. The broad outlines will be given in Lecture 2, while some interesting but more specialized topics will be discussed in Lecture 3.
