From the Strominger system to generalized geometry

In joint work with Mario Garcia-Fernandez and Roberto Rubio (arXiv:1503.07562), the infinitesimal study of the Strominger system led us to generalized geometry on a transitive Courant algebroid. I will try to give a simple overview of this work, focusing on a few key ideas. Time permitting, this will include a mention on how generalized Killing spinors provide a common framework for SU(3)-holonomy metrics and solutions to the Strominger system.
