Title:
Inhomogeneous quenches and arctic curves in fermionic systems

Speaker:
Jacopo Viti

Abstract:
I will present a a quantum mechanical approch to the problem of arctic curves in statistical mechanics. The quantum protocol is nowadays called quantum quench and describes a typical out-of-equilíbrium dynamical problem where particles (fermions) have an initially inhomogeneous density profile and spread ballistically. I will discuss how the arctic curves phenomenon is related to a quantum quench through analytic continuation in imaginary-time. I will discuss as an example the six vertex model at the free fermion point.
