On the hydrodynamic approach to Arctic Curves

Abstract:
In this informal talk I will describe a hydrodynamic approach to the formation of Arctic regions in statistical mechanics models. The main idea is to view the formation of Arctic regions as rare fluctuations in one-dimensional hydrodynamics. In case of dimer models the approach reproduces known results but is not limited to non-interacting or even integrable models. The project is a work in progress with Fabio Franchini.
