Title:
The holographic Weyl semi-metal

Speaker:
Karl Landsteiner

Abstract:
Weyl semi-metals are exciting new topological states of matter described by relatvistic fermions in three dimensions. Relativistic transport theory has received important input in recent years from string theory inspired holographic techniques. We combine the two and present a holographic model of a Weyl semi-metal. The model shows a topological phase transition between the Weyl semi-metal phase characterised by the anomalous Hall effect and a trivial semi-metal phase without Hall effect. As an application we predict the presence of significant Hall viscosity at finite temperature in the quantum critical region near the topological phase transiton.
