Hydrodynamics with Hall viscosity: variational approach

Abstract:
In the first expository part of the talk I will review the variational approach to hydrodynamics and the concept of the geometric response known as Hall viscosity. Then I will construct the action of 2+1 compressible hydrodynamics with non-vanishing Hall viscosity and discuss the relation of Hall viscosity with intrinsic angular momentum of fluid particles. Various generalizations of the construction to incompressible fluids, Hall fluids etc will also be mentioned.
