Title:
Newton-Cartan geometry and hydrodynamics with Hall viscosity

Speaker:
Gustavo Monteiro

Abstract:
In this talk I will solve the ambiguity in defining Hall viscosity for a general hydrodynamic scenario, as raised by Abanov in his talk last week. I will start with an introduction to Newton-Cartan geometry and show how the coupling with a geometry background defines the Hall viscosity term in the stress tensor. In this framework, the spin current appears naturally and it is explicitly conserved. To conclude, I will explore the connection between Hall viscosity and intrinsic angular momentum of fluid particles.
