Title:
Stein fillability in higher dimensions

Speaker:
Andras Stipsicz

Abstract:
Contact and symplectic structures play prominent role in studying smooth topological properties of manifolds. By seminal work of Borman-Eliashberg-Murphy we know that every almost-contact manifold admits contact structures. Using surgery methods we identify an obstruction for a manifold to admit a Stein fillable contact structure, and apply this obstruction class to understand the Stein fillability property better. This is joint work with Jonathan Bowden and Diarmuid Crowley.
