Title:
The Coulomb branch chiral ring in 4d N=2 SCFTs

Speaker:
Philip Argyres

Abstract:
We study the consequences of having a chiral ring with non-trivial relations for the low energy effective theory on the Coulomb branch of 4d N=2 supersymmetric field theories. In the rank 1 case we show that upon deformation by relevant operators such a SCFT flows to new kinds of singularities in the effective theory. Some of those singularities have IR free Coulomb branch effective theories, for which we propose a field theory interpretation as a theory of a rank-0 SCFT with a nilpotent Coulomb branch chiral ring with a weakly gauged U(1) or SU(2) flavor group.
