Title:
Strings on G2 manifolds: aspects of mirror symmetry

Speaker:
Michele Del Zotto

Abstract:
Many of the important features of string compactification on Calabi-Yau manifolds, including in particular mirror symmetry, were extended to the case of manifolds with holonomy G2 more than 15 years ago. However, at the time, there were little known examples of such manifolds. In recent years, mathematicians have vastly extended this set. In particular, a construction known as ”twisted connected sum” enables to obtain at least 50 millions of novel examples. What is the action of extended mirror symmetry on this novel class of G2 manifolds?
