The stabilized symplectic embedding problem

Abstract:
I will describe some of what is known about the question of when one open subset of Euclidean space embeds symplectically into another. Though it is still true that we know much more about this in dimension 4, there has been some recent progress in the higher dimensional problem that is based on proving the existence of some very special J-holomorphic curves in 4-dimensions.
