Title:
Subsystem ETH

Speaker:
Anatoly Dymarsky

Abstract:
I will review recent progress formulating Eigenstate Thermalization Hypothesis (ETH) for a density matrix of a subsystem of an isolated quantum system. We will first start with the "discrete" (lattice) models and consider the limits when the subsystem remains fixed or scales together with the full system in the thermodynamic limit. Our goal would be to discuss the relation between different local and extended quantities, such as entropies, calculated in different statistical ensembles. Then we will consider the case of conformal field theories and formulate a conjecture that in the latter case the reduced density matrix of an eigenstate is equal to the reduced (generalized) Gibbs ensemble. The talk is based on arXiv:1611.08764, arXiv:1610.00302, arXiv:1710.10458.
