Title:
Moduli of Heterotic String Sompactifications, and Effective Actions
Speaker:
Abstract:
The heterotic string is often regarded as the most phenomenologically attractive string theory, due to the presence of gauge bundles wherein the Standard Model naturally embed. The bundle however has a natural back reaction on the geometry through the heterotic Bianchi Identity, inducing torsion for generic compactifications. I will review some recent progress in understanding the moduli of these torsional geometries, both for infinitesimal and finite deformations. The moduli space is governed by an effective action derived from the heterotic superpotential, which I will remark upon.
