Title:
An introduction to supergraphs and some new applications

Speaker:
Martin Rocek

Abstract:
Since this talk is a colloquium, I will try to make it fairly self-contained and non-technical. However, as I am a physicist, I cannot claim to be able to give a mathematically rigorous presentation. I will start by reviewing perturbation theory for ordinary field theories. I will try to present the structure in a way that is comprehensible to mathematicians. Once the basic ingredients are identified, it will be clear how to develop perturbation theory in other contexts. Then I will review superspace, and use the basic ingredients of both to derive supergraphs. Finally, I will describe some elementary but new observations in (2+1) dimensional theories with minimal supersymmetry. Most of the material that I will describe was well-known in the past, but some of it is forgotten, even though it is still useful.
