Title:
Non-Abelian T-duality in string theory

Speaker:
Ctirad Klimcik

Abstract:
I review the concept of the T-duality in the framework of the dynamics of non-linear sigma-models which are the 2d field theories describing the motion of the string world-sheet in a given geometry of the target space. The T-dual pair of sigma-models is characterized by different geometries of the target spacetimes but by the same Hamiltonian dynamics of the mutually dual models; T-duality is then by definition a symplectomorphism (or a canonical transformation) mapping the phase space and the Hamiltonian of one sigma-model to the phase space and the Hamiltonian of its T-dual.
