Abstract:
In this talk we will provide a brief and curated survey of some of the areas of current investigation in the mathematics and physics of Hitchin Systems. In particular, we will attempt to give an overview of some of the open questions and important research topics that will be explored in the semester long program - The Geometry and Physics of Hitchin Systems held at SCGP (Jan - June, 2019). This will include aspects of mathematical interest as well as some of the applications of Hitchin Systems within string theory.
