Title:
"Small" modular forms on exceptional groups

Speaker:
Aaron Pollack

Abstract:
There are forms of the exceptional algebraic groups of type E_6, E_7, E_8 with rank four over the real numbers. Gross and Wallach initiated a study of certain "quaternionic" unitary representations on these groups, which leads to a semi-classical theory of modular forms on them. I will discuss modular forms on E_8, E_7, and E_6 that are small in the sense that most of their Fourier coefficients are 0. In particular, the modular forms I will discuss are minimal, small, and distinguished on E_8, E_7, and E_6, respectively.
