Title:
JT gravity as a matrix integral

Speaker:
Douglas Stanford

Abstract:
Quantum black holes are chaotic systems, and their energy eigenvalues are expected to display random-matrix statistics. I will show how a precise version of this arises for black holes in a 2D theory called Jackiw-Teitelboim gravity. We use Mirzakhani's recursion for Weil-Petersson volumes and its relation to Eynard-Orantin topological recursion. I will comment on the relation to the older Liouville/matrix duality. Based on work with Saad and Shenker.
