p-adic integration for the Hitchin system

Abstract:
I will talk about joint work with Michael Groechenig and Dimitri Wyss on the cohomology of moduli spaces of Higgs bundles using methods from arithmetic geometry. Our first result is a proof of the topological mirror symmetry conjecture of Hausel-Thaddeus on the equality of the (suitably twisted) Hodge numbers of pairs of moduli spaces of SL_n- and PGL_n-Higgs bundles. Our second result is a new proof of Ngô's geometric stabilisation theorem which appears in the proof of the fundamental lemma.
