Title:
Critical properties at Anderson transitions: multifractality and conformal invariance

Speaker:
Ilya Gruzberg

Abstract:
Anderson transitions are continuous quantum phase transitions driven by disorder and accompanied by many unusual critical properties. One of them is a continuous spectrum of critical exponents characterizing the scaling of moments of electron’s wave functions at criticality. These so-called multifractal exponents have attracted a lot of attention recently, and there are many results available for them. These results can be used as stringent tests of conformal invariance at Anderson transitions in two dimensions. A specific case, the integer quantum Hall transition, is particularly interesting since there a recent proposal for a conformal field theory that underlies it. I will give an overview of recent developments in this area.
